Ofsted Inspection visit February 2023

St John's was last inspected during a one day ‘Section 8’ (short) inspection on the 22nd and 23rd February 2023, where the school retained it’s ‘Good’ rating. 

"There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now."

The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.

Ofsted Short inspection visit October 2017

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills.  It reports directly to Parliament and is independent and impartial.  Ofsted is responsible for the inspection and regulation of services that care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

St John's was last inspected during a one day ‘Section 8’ (short) inspection on the 17th October 2017, where the school retained it’s ‘Good’ rating. 

"Safeguarding arrangements at the school are excellent" and "The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection." Ofsted 2017

Ofsted July 2014

St John's was inspected under Ofsted's more rigorous framework for inspections during two days, where the inspectors observed lessons, interviewed staff, governors, children and parents. The school secured a judgement of “Good” in all four categories including achievement, teaching and learning, leadership and management and behaviour and safety.

Highlights in the report include the comments:

‘Behaviour is good and this is greatly valued by the pupils and their parents. Pupils say that they always feel safe in school’

‘Teaching is good. Teachers use information about pupils’ progress to plan work which challenges them well’

'The school is a happy and lively community’

'Teachers manage their classes well and very good use is made of additional adults to help all pupils do their best work’
